Get Well Flowers in Fort Lauderdale: Home and Hospital Delivery Tips

Written by DGM Flowers Co.

When someone you care about is sick or recovering, flowers are a simple way to say "I'm thinking of you" when you can't be there. If you're sending get well flowers in Fort Lauderdale, the short version is this: pick something cheerful and easy to care for, double-check the patient's details, and know how hospital delivery works before you order.

We're DGM Flowers Co., an independent Fort Lauderdale florist. Our own team designs every arrangement and our drivers hand-deliver around Greater Fort Lauderdale.

How hospital flower delivery works

This is the part most people don't know. When we deliver to a hospital, our driver brings the arrangement to the front desk (or the flower delivery cart, where a hospital has one) and leaves it there, following that hospital's procedure. Hospital staff then take it up to the patient. We don't go up to patient rooms.

A few things help it reach them quickly:

Use the patient's full legal name, the way the hospital has them registered. Nicknames slow things down.
Add the room number if you know it, but the name matters most.
Check that they're still admitted. Discharge can happen fast. If they're going home soon, send it to the house instead.
Ask about the unit first. Some units, like intensive care, don't allow flowers. A quick call to the family or the hospital saves a disappointing return. If flowers aren't allowed, a plant or flowers sent home after discharge are a good alternative.

What to send for get well

Bright and cheerful wins. Sunny yellows, soft pinks and greens feel hopeful. Save all-white arrangements for sympathy.

Go easy on scent. Patients and roommates can be sensitive to strong fragrance, so for a hospital room we lean toward lightly scented blooms. If your patient loves fragrance, or you're sending to the house, a softly scented bouquet like Goodness and Light below is a lovely choice.

Keep it a manageable size. Hospital tables and windowsills are small. A Standard size is usually just right for a hospital room, while a home recovery can take something fuller.

Vase arrangements are easiest. They arrive ready to display, with nothing for a tired patient or busy nurse to unwrap or trim.

Two get well picks from our studio

Goodness and Light Bouquet, from $49.95. A bright vase of pinks, magentas, yellows, creams and lavender that says "feel better" without saying a word. The pink stock gives it a soft, sweet scent, so we suggest it for home delivery or for a patient who likes fragrance. Deluxe is $59.95 and Premium is $69.95.
Snazzy Sunflowers Bouquet, from $59.95. Sunflowers are about as cheerful as flowers get. Deluxe is $74.95 and Premium is $89.95.
You'll find more options in our get well flowers collection.

Recovering at home? Think longer-lasting

For someone recovering at home for a few weeks, a plant or an orchid keeps going long after cut flowers fade, and it doesn't need daily water changes. For home deliveries, add gate codes, the building name and unit number, and a shaded spot to leave it if nobody can come to the door.

Same-day get well delivery

Order before 2 PM, Monday through Friday, and we can deliver the same day. Our same-day delivery guide has the details, and our delivery area page lists the cities we cover.

A little extra

A soft 14" plush bear (from $19.95) can be added at checkout and is a sweet companion for a hospital stay. Keep the card short and warm. "Thinking of you and cheering you on" beats a long note they're too tired to read.
