Chrysanthemum: The November Birth Flower
Share
The chrysanthemum is the November birth flower. The chrysanthemum was first cultivated in China as a flowering herb as far back as the 15th century BC. Chrysanthemums made their way to Japan in the 8th century AD, and then to Europe in the 17th century. The name "chrysanthemum" comes from the Greek words for "gold" and "flower". In many parts of Europe, the chrysanthemum is known as the "mum".
The chrysanthemum symbolizes fidelity, optimism, joy, and long life. The chrysanthemum is also the flower of the ninth wedding anniversary. White chrysanthemums are often used in funeral arrangements and symbolize truth and sincerity.
Types of Chrysanthemum November Flower
There are many different types of chrysanthemums with a wide range of colors, including white, yellow, pink, red, purple, and orange. Some common types of chrysanthemums include:
-Shasta daisies: These daisy-like flowers have white petals with a yellow center.
-Pompon mums: These mums are small and round with tightly packed petals.
-Cushion mums: These mums are low-growing with flattened blooms.
-Spider mums: These mums have long, thin petals that radiate out from the center of the flower.
-Button poms: These mums are similar to pompon mums but have flatter centers.
-Anemone mums: These mums have outer petals that surround a center of smaller petals.

-Cut 1-2 inches off the bottom of the stem at an angle when you first get them home.
-Fill a vase or other container with fresh, cool water and add a packet of flower food if provided.
